Vice president Lu Tianjian attended the third meeting of the council of Liverpool Confucius Institute
The third meeting of the council of the Liverpool Confucius Institute was held at Liverpool University on October 4. XJTU vice president Professor Lu Tianjian and University of Liverpool Professor Michael Hoey, the Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Internationalisation, University of Liverpool and the director of the Liverpool Confucius Institute attended the meeting. The meeting was chaired by the vice chairman of the council professor Lu Tianjian. The issues discussed at the meeting included a progress report for the year 2011, presented by deputy director of the Liverpool Confucius Institute Ms. Ann Smith, and a presentation of the draft work plan for 2012, delivered by Director Hoey. Professor Lu Tianjian said he hoped that while the Confucius Institute provides Chinese teaching and popularises Chinese culture, it would become the bridge to connect the research cooperation and exchange between the two universities, especially drive and intensify the cooperation in humanities and social sciences between the two universities.
