Professor Atsushi Koketsu, Vice President of Japan’s Yamaguchi University, visits School of Humanities and Social Sciences
On the afternoon of November 24, Professor Atsushi Koketsu, the vice president of Japan's Yamaguchi University and a distinguished historian, visited XJTU. He was welcomed by assistant president Dr. Gong Hui and the Deputy Dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Professor Li Jianqun had a kind talk with him.
After the meeting, Professor Atsushi Koketsu delivered a lecture entitled "The Outlook for Sino-Japanese Relations" in the main lecture hall of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, located in the university's Main Building. The session was presided over by deputy dean Li Jianqun.
In his lecture, Professor Atsushi Koketsu said that he foresaw the development of friendly Sino-Japanese relations and he emphasized that such relations must be based on a consensus reached by scholars and by people of China and Japan, especially the consensus reached on historic issues. Professor Atsushi Koketsu also presented his views regarding Japan's responsibility for its invasion of China, and for the Sino-Japanese war.
