Vice President of Ehime University Shimizu Fumito visits XJTU, promoting cooperation
On December 5, Professor Shimizu Fumito, Vice President of Ehime University (Japan), together with Professor Chen Jie, Director of Supporting Center of International Education, Sumisai Nisio, Director of Supporting Department of International Association and other delegates, visited XJTU, discussing cooperation between the two universities with the Vice President of XJTU Xi Guang.
Xi extended his warm welcome to Vice President Shimizu Fumito and his team. He said this visit is sure to promote the cooperation between XJTU and Japanese universities. He also said that XJTU is willing to collaborate with Ehime University in scientific researches and other fields, and start some short-term exchange programs for undergraduates and graduate students.
Professor Shimizu Fumito introduced some of the frontier researches conductedin Ehime University,such as high pressure physics, biochemistry and ancient iron culture. He stressed that XJTU has enjoyed a great reputation in Japan and that students studying here are all outstanding. He hoped that more short-term cultural exchanges between the two universities will be carried out in the future on the basis of previous exchange programs,
Ehime University is a national comprehensive university, consisting of Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Science, Faculty of Education, Faculty of Law and Letters (Faculty of Humanities and Sciences), School of Medicine and affiliated hospitals, as well as Faculty of Agriculture and affiliated farms. All schools offer master’s degree programs; doctoral programs are offered to all schools except the schools of arts. As for international exchanges, Ehime University has academic exchanges and cooperation programs with universities and research institutions in 25 countries around the world. About 450 students from more than 30 countries have studied in Ehime University for academic degrees or for short-term exchanges.
According to the participants, it is clear that Ehime County and Shaanxi Province are willing to establish sister-province-cooperation ties, which will be promoted by the cooperation between the two universities.
