Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) has recently announced the shortlist of 2014 Innovative Talents Promotion Plan, into which XJTU was selected as an "Innovative Talents Cultivation Demonstration Base". The demonstration base, relying on institutions of higher education, scientific research institutions and science parks, is a pilot special zone aiming to establish a policy environment good for nurturing innovative talents of science and technology, break through the difficulties in talents cultivation system, form distinctive talents cultivation modes, and make talents cultivation policies and systems. It is also an important part of the Innovative Talents Promotion Plan by Ministry of Science and Technology.

In addition, three XJTU Professors Shen Shengpin, Wang Hong and Lin Jing were listed as the "Leading Young Scientific and Technological Innovative Talents" of the Innovative Talents Promotion Plan.
