HISTORY
The predecessor of Xi'an Jiaotong University Library (XJTU Library) was the book collection building of Nanyang College founded in Shanghai in 1896. The XJTU Library now consists of three parts: Qian Xuesen Library on the Xingqing campus, the library on the Yanta campus, and iHarbour Library.
MISSION
The library advances research and teaching by providing outstanding collections, trusted expertise, and exceptional services to support XJTU in its pursuit of world-class status. It focuses on developing top-tier information resources, underpinning scientific research and learning, offering information services to facilitate discipline development, creating diverse spaces for talent cultivation, enriching cultural activities, and promoting cultural heritage.
COLLECTION
By the end of 2024, the library had amassed a comprehensive collection exceeding 6.03 million physical volumes. Complemented by 350 electronic databases, over 3.12 million e-books, and nearly 83 thousand e-journal titles, it has established a robust multi-disciplinary literature and information resource system. This system is strategically focused on key academic domains such as science, engineering, management, humanities, medicine, and economics. The library provides a one-stop discovery system, mobile library and remote access anytime and anywhere.
SPACE
The library has created various spaces, including the Library Historical and Cultural Wall, New Book Sharing Space, Quiet Study Area, Computer Study Space, iLibrary Space, PBL Space, Economist Space, Sunshine Salon, Book Cafe, 24-hour Self-study Space, Exhibition Space, Starry Sky Lecture Hall, and Qian Xuesen's Scientific Spirit and Educational Thought Exhibition.
VISION
The library aims to serve as a resource, learning, communication, and cultural center for XJTU.
