The Center of Physical Education of Xi'an Jiaotong University undertakes the university's physical education teaching tasks, including competitions, exercise training, sports research, and sports graduate student training. The center has 15 professors, 39 associate professors, three international referees, and 21 national referees. The center's stadiums cover a total area of 203,000 square meters on the three campuses of Xingqing, Yanta, and Chuangxin Port. 

The physical education work of Xi’an Jiaotong University has a good tradition. The course Physical Education in University was rated as a national-level excellent course in 2007. Mass sports activities have been flourishing, and the university's sports teams have won 20 first place prizes in national competitions and 191 first place prizes in Shaanxi Province over the past three years.

The Center has been awarded multiple times by the Ministry of Education of China, the General Administration of Sport of China, the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League of China, and the Department of Education of Shaanxi Province. The awards were Advanced University of Implementing the Physical Education Work Regulations, the "Principal Cup" Award for Outstanding Contributions to Physical Education, Advanced Unit of National Mass Sports Activities, National Advanced Unit of Promoting "Measures for the Implementation of Physical Exercise Standards", and others.
