WTO dispute resolution workshop delegation visits XJTU

The delegation visits the Belt and Road Procuratorial Research Base of the Supreme People's Procuratorate in Xi'an.
Participants from the WTO dispute resolution workshop visited Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) for exchanges from Oct 20 to 23.
The workshop was sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce and lasted 10 days, providing a platform for exchange and discussion among China and other WTO members on reforming and improving the dispute-resolution mechanism.
Participants included over 10 senior diplomats and officials from WTO members such as Thailand, South Africa, and Egypt. The workshop aimed to promote China's approach to dispute resolution and foster collaboration with key developing nations in upholding the multilateral trading system.
On Oct 21, XJTU's Professor Shan Wenhua lectured on "The Chinese Approach to International Commercial Dispute Resolution in the Context of the Belt and Road Initiative," covering the BRI's achievements, related disputes and their resolution, progress in dispute resolution, and future outlook.
On Oct 22, Professor Peter Van Den Bossche, former Chairman of the WTO Appellate Body and a participant in XJTU's National Leading Talents Program, lectured on "WTO Dispute Settlement-Lessons Learned and Changes Needed," providing a comprehensive overview of the mechanism's history, opportunities, challenges, and future.
The workshop delegation also toured key legal institutions, including the Sixth Circuit Tribunal of the Supreme People's Court, the Second Commercial International Court, the Belt and Road Procuratorial Research Base of the Supreme People's Procuratorate, and the Intellectual Property Court of the Xi'an Intermediate People's Court.
