XJTU adds 37 national first-class undergraduate courses
Thirty-seven courses from Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) have been selected for the Third Batch of National First-Class Undergraduate Courses, as recently announced by the Ministry of Education.
These comprise 15 online courses, 12 offline courses, two online-offline hybrid courses, seven virtual simulation courses, and one social practice course. XJTU currently has 166 courses designated as national first-class undergraduate courses, ranking fifth nationwide, and 154 provincial first-class undergraduate courses, ranking first in Shaanxi province.
The university takes course construction as a starting point to deepen undergraduate education and enhance the quality of talent cultivation. It has strengthened guidance by formulating the "Implementation Plan for Comprehensively Deepening the Construction of Ideological and Political Education in Courses," establishing a teaching and research demonstration center for such courses, building a "Dasizheng" cloud platform, and holding the "Big Training for 100 Teachers" activity. It has also established an ideological and political education demonstration system at the national, provincial, and university levels, and improved the mechanism for developing social practice courses.
The university has optimized course settings through a new academic program that aligns the course system and teaching content with training goals and graduation competencies, including enterprise-university cooperation courses, undergraduate-postgraduate connection courses, frontier courses in the field, innovation and entrepreneurship courses, interdisciplinary courses, and project-driven courses.
It has also established a "basic-professional-comprehensive interdisciplinary" three-level practical teaching system, with the course outlines and teaching content updated regularly.
XJTU has advanced its curriculum through the "Famous Teachers, Famous Courses, Famous Textbooks" initiative, which supports 395 "famous courses" in adopting innovative teaching methods, including seminar-style, case-based, and interactive learning.
The university has advanced AI-driven curriculum reform by developing 283 MOOCs, 32 curriculum map courses, and 153 smart courses. It has also released 12 professional large models and 10 intelligent agents, launched the "DeepEdu 2.0" platform, created the "Siyuan Classroom 2.0" intelligent undergraduate teaching platform, and strengthened the application and promotion of the university-level virtual simulation experimental teaching platform.
XJTU has bolstered the development of grassroots teaching organizations by establishing a hierarchical management framework structured as "university-college-major/department-major direction/module-course group/course". It has also created five categories of foundational course modular groups and enriched teaching research activities.
The university has implemented incentive and support measures, including establishing three major teaching awards to recognize outstanding frontline teachers, adopting a real-time monitoring digital intelligence platform for teaching quality assessment, and introducing a classroom teaching quality assurance system.
XJTU will further deepen the undergraduate curriculum system by promoting AI applications in curriculum construction, reconstructing teaching content, innovating curriculum design, and renewing classroom organization. It will also reform evaluation methods, improve textbook construction, redefine teacher-student relationships, explore new teaching and learning models, stimulate students' self-motivation to learn, and achieve individualized education and personalized growth.
