The 2026 Hong Kong SAR • Shaanxi Technological Transfer and Venture Capital Summit was held in Hong Kong on Jan 20. The summit brought together 32 technology companies established by faculty and alumni from XJTU for a series of exhibitions.

Over 80 representatives from investment institutions and listed companies participated, aiming to facilitate greater alignment between Xi'an's technology and Hong Kong's venture capital.

Zhang Liqun, president of XJTU and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, said at the summit that by relying on XJTU Hong Kong Research Institute, the university will give full play to its strengths in research and talent, while collaborating with Hong Kong's financial and platform advantages.

Taking the summit as an opportunity, the university said it aims to deepen industry-academia-research collaboration, contribute to accelerating the cultivation of new quality productive forces, and advance the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and Hong Kong as an international center of innovative technology and an international financial center.

The summit also saw the launch of the "Belt and Road" Key and Core Technology Achievements Database, which integrates key and core technology achievements from universities and research institutions from countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative, providing resource support for technology implementation and commercialization.

XJTU and Hong Kong Quality Assurance Agency signed an agreement at the summit to jointly establish the Institute for Sustainable Development. Both parties will focus on areas such as standardized talent training, the promotion and application of environmental, social and governance standards, and services for listed companies to help them deepen their collaboration.

The XJTU (Hong Kong) Education Foundation Limited was also inaugurated.

The summit featured two parallel roadshow sessions: "Artificial Intelligence and Information Technology" and "Life Health and Green Technology", with 22 outstanding science and technology enterprises showcasing internationally leading scientific and technological achievements and application development trends. During a series of in-depth discussions, multiple tech enterprises and investment institutions reached cooperation intents.
