Uzbek ambassador to China visits XJTU to deepen cooperation

Representatives from XJTU and Uzbekistan convene to outline future strategic partnerships.
Farhod Arziev, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to China, visited Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) on March 17 for a symposium to discuss establishing collaborative centers and deepening practical cooperation with Uzbek higher education institutions.
Zhang Liqun, president of XJTU and academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, introduced the university's history, academic achievements, and international exchange initiatives, noting that under the Belt and Road Initiative, China and Uzbekistan have achieved fruitful results in platform co-construction, talent cultivation, and scientific cooperation in fields such as green energy.
Zhang expressed hope that this exchange would serve as an opportunity to explore priority areas and feasible paths for future collaboration, contributing to the high-quality upgrading of international education and promoting regional prosperity and friendship.
Arziev stated that education is the foundation of national development, and Uzbekistan is continually increasing its investment in this sector. He remarked that XJTU not only enjoys a prestigious reputation in China but also plays a vital role in promoting educational cooperation within the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO).
Highlighting the two-thousand-year history of connection along the Silk Road, Arziev expressed the eagerness of Uzbek universities to deepen cooperation with XJTU in talent cultivation and scientific research, encouraging more Uzbek students to study in China and welcoming Chinese students to visit Uzbekistan.
Shan Zhiwei, vice president of XJTU, introduced the collaborative center's achievements and the university's partnerships with Uzbek institutions. He looked forward to establishing closer ties through the center to deepen joint talent cultivation, strengthen scientific and technological cooperation, and promote the integration of industry-education and digital education.
He also emphasized the importance of transforming consensus into tangible projects and outcomes to boost regional educational cooperation and cultural exchange within the SCO.
