XJTU holds intl seminar on China-EU economic relations

International representatives attend the seminar to discuss the opportunities and challenges facing current economic and trade cooperation.
An international seminar focusing on China-European Union (EU) economic relations in an era of global disorder was recently held at Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU), bringing together experts, scholars, and industry practitioners from various countries and regions, including China, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Germany, Italy, Finland, and India.
At the seminar's opening ceremony, Zhang Liqun, president of XJTU and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, highlighted the university's achievements in the field of foreign-related rule of law, stating that XJTU will continue to serve major national strategic needs and contribute its wisdom to building a more peaceful, just, and standardized international economic order.
Yi Xiaozhun, former vice-minister of the Ministry of Commerce of China and former deputy director-general of the World Trade Organization, provided a deep analysis of the severe challenges currently facing the multilateral trading system.
He pointed out that, as two of the world's major economies, China and the EU have a responsibility to strengthen cooperation, ensure the multilateral trading system remains intact, and promote a new framework for global trade governance characterized by collective leadership and healthy co-governance.
The seminar featured in-depth discussions and academic debates on the opportunities and challenges facing current economic and trade cooperation, with a particular emphasis on finding feasible paths to resolve differences and mitigate conflict.
