The Frontier Institute for Science and Technology made advances in design and synthesis of precious metal nanomaterials
Professor Gao Chuanbo’s research team at Frontier Institute for Science and Technology made advances in precious metals nanomateirals design. The PhD student Liu Hongpo of the team published as the firs t author in the internationally prestigious materials journal Advanced Functional Materials, a paper entitled Etching-free epitaxial growth of gold on silver nanostructures for high chemical stability and plasmonic activity. XJTU is the first authoring unit of the paper.
The research took the silver nano sheet as an example and inactivated the displacement reaction through coordination effect. This realized the epitaxial growth of gold on silver surface and eventually created a new gold nano-sheet material with core shell structures. The material demonstrated high stability and plasmonic activity and is widely applicable in molecular testing, bio-sensing and imaging etc.
