XJTU alumnus Gao Huajian elected to be AAS member
On May 1, 2018(local time), the American Academy of Sciences(AAS)announced its co-opted members list with 84 new members and 21 foreign members in recognition of their distinguished and continuing achievements in original research. Six academically renowned Chinese scholars inthe United States are included, with their research fields coveringphysical, biological, and solid mechanics. XJTU Alumnus Gao Huajian is on the list.
Gao Huajian, a world-famous scientist in mechanics, an NAE member, a foreign academician of the CAS (Chinese Academy of Sciences), and a member of the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina, obtained his bachelor's degree inEngineering Mechanics from XJTU in 1982. Since 2012, he has served as the deputy director of the Executive Committee of International Center for Applied Mechanics of School of Aerospace of XJTU.
