With the authorization of the Academic Degrees Commission of the State Council, XJTU has been listed the first batch of 20 universities in China that can carry out autonomous review of degree conferring authorization. XJTU is also the only university in western China that has been approved.

With this new development, XJTUcan enjoy more autonomy in school operating in the future. Firstly, XJTU can autonomously add and adjust doctoral and master's degree conferring programssecondly, after the university review, XJTU can directly submit the results to the Academic Degrees Commission of the State Council as the final decision thirdly, XJTU has a larger freedom in settingup disciplines. This means that XJTU can not only independently set up first-level disciplines and professional degrees stipulated in the subject catalogue, but also can set up inter-disciplines which will be managed as the first-level disciplines.
