On the evening of June 19, 2018, Professor Ronald Burt delivered a speech with the title of "Network Advantage in the West and China". Professor Ronald Burt is an AAAS (American Academy of Arts and Sciences) member, an international academic leader on social network analysis, now serving as the chair professor of sociology and management science of University of Chicago.

In his speech, Professor Burt compared the "relation" construction between different social groups both in China and in the U.S., saying that with the increase of network density and variation of relations as well as the network advantages, the degree of trust between people also varies. Therefore, he innovatively made an assumption of a "cocoon network": the network density is crucial to innovative enterprises, and the expansion of network is a condition of social structure influencing the development of enterprise both in China and in US.
