Student of 2018 Shaanxi Provincial Science Talent Program enters the 70th Intel ISEF

Recently, Ren Jiajun, a student of the High School Affiliated to Xi'an Jiaotong University, who was trained in the 2018 Shaanxi Provincial Science Talent Program at XJTU, was selected into the 70th Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF). It is the first time for a student from the Shaanxi Provincial Science Talent Program to have entered this competition.

The Intel ISEF was founded and developed by the Society for Science &the Public of the United States. The Fair began in 1950 as the National Science Fair in Philadelphia and transitioned into an international competition in 1958. Now it's the world's largest international pre-college science competition, covering all social and natural sciences in 22 different categories, including Animal Sciences, Behavioral and Social Sciences, Biochemistry, Earth and Environmental Sciences, Engineering Mechanics and Environmental Engineering.

Ren Jiajun

Ren Jiajun is currently studying at the High School Affiliated to Xi'an Jiaotong University. In 2018, he entered the Shaanxi Provincial Science Talent Program under the guidance of Professor Yang Zhimao from the School of Science of XJTU. During one-year of training, he completed the Program's basic learning tasks and systematically carried out guided research on controllable preparation of cuprous oxide nanocomposite and its photocatalytic degradation to organic waste liquid. In the 2018 winter vacation, he went to Beijing to participate in the 2019 CAST Youth Science and Technology Exchange Program Selection Training &Intel ISEF Winter Camp and was selected into the 70th Intel ISEF. In mid-May 2019, together with other 20 outstanding middle school students from all over China, he will participate in the competition in the United States.
