The internationally renowned journal Chinese Journal of Cellular and Molecular Immunology recently issued the latest research achievement in hyperthyroidism exophthalmos conducted by Professor Shi Bingyin's team of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University. The research, for the first time in the world, confirms that CD4 T lymphocyte subsets with positive toxicity play an important role in the pathogenesis of hyperthyroid exophthalmos.

By single cell sequencing technology, Professor Shi's team analyzed the blood of patients with hyperthyroidism exophthalmos and discovered that the important role of CD4 T lymphocyte subsets with positive toxicity in the pathogenesis of hyperthyroid exophthalmos is closely related to the efficacy of steroid pulse therapy. Additionally, the lymphocyte subsets have significant clonal amplification and thyroid stimulating hormone receptor specificity.

The research was jointly completed by Professor Shi's team and Professor Ye Kai's team of XJTU. The First Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University is the first author unit of the paper and Dr. Wang Yue, doctoral student Chen Ziyi and doctoral student Wang Tingjie are the co-first authors. Professor Shi and Professor Ye are the co-corresponding authors.
