A High-Level Roundtable on Belt and Road International Commercial Law & Seminar on Development of International Legal Service in the Post-Pandemic Era was held in Xi'an on May 18.

The meeting  was co-sponsored by the School of Law of Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) and was under the guidance of various government authorities related to law and international cooperation.

Kang Yu, secretary-general of the Belt and Road International Lawyers Association and former director of the International Cooperation Bureau of the Ministry of Justice, Shi Jianping, deputy director of the Shaanxi Provincial Department of Justice, and Xiao Zhengguang, deputy secretary-general of the Xi'an People’s Government, made opening speeches.

Professor Shan Wenhua of the School of Law in XJTU chaired the meeting, and Li Xiang, deputy director of the Management Committee of the Xi'an International Trade & Logistics Park made a keynote presentation on the construction of the Belt and Road Demonstration Zone for International Commercial Legal Services (BRDZ-ICLS).

At the meeting, well-known foreign and domestic legal experts in the institutions and universities and legal service agency representatives gave suggestions on characteristic Belt and Road businesses, hot issues and difficult demands of enterprises in foreign-related commercial legal services.

The BRDZ-ICLS is the first and only national-level demonstration zone for legal services in China. It was established by Shaanxi Province, Xi'an City, the Supreme People’s Court, and the Ministry of Justice on the basis of the recommendations of XJTU.

XJTU signed an agreement on building the Central Legal-services Districtand the Belt and Road International Dispute Management Center in July, 2018.
