The Ministry of Education recently announced the first list of 12 universities and colleges approved as “Schools of Emerging Technologies”. Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) is one of them.

It was noted that the first group of colleges and universities should clarify construction objectives for future development, promote transformation and upgrading from “Made in China” to “Created in China”, and lay the foundation for a powerful country of higher education, serve high-quality development, and realize the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

As one of the selected units, XJTU was asked to support the building of interdisciplinary mechanisms, explore diversified training modes, promote multi-agent collaborative education, and become a highland of teaching and scientific research that provides high-quality resources and creates a good atmosphere as the starting point and guarantees the reform of the system and its mechanisms.

The construction units are urged to assure the quality of “School of Emerging Technologies”, integrating quality awareness, quality standards, quality evaluation and quality management into the whole process of cultivating future technological innovation leading talents. They must also fully implement the concept of student-centered, output-oriented and continuously improving programs.

The other 11 universities and colleges in the first group are Peking University, Tsinghua University, Beihang University, Tianjin University, Northeast University, University of Science and Technology of China, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and South China University of Technology.
