XJTU holds international conference on global health
International scholars gather in an online conference on global health from June 17 to 19.
From June 17 to 19, Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) held the 4th Belt & Road Initiative Global Health International Congress & the 2022 University Alliance of the Silk Road Health Forum.
Over 160 domestic and overseas experts, university presidents, superintendents of hospitals, winners of the Nobel Prize, and academicians and fellows of top academies in the world, gathered online to provide professional suggestions on global health. Nearly 110,000 viewers watched the conference on livestreaming platforms.
Twenty-four forums focused on major global health issues, covering the prevention and control of COVID-19, global health, obesity, diabetes and chronic disease prevention and control, and aging health.
Facing global health issues, XJTU President Wang Shuguo called for synergy from international scholars. Based on the role of the university, Wang emphasized to cultivate talents with an international vision and advanced concepts. He said he hopes to gather the strength of international scholars to contribute to building a healthy, harmonious, united and sustainable world.
Being committed to global health issues, XJTU has established an international center for the research of obesity and metabolic diseases, and welcomes more academic support.
The conference is of great significance to the global fight against the pandemic, the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative, the construction of a healthy China, and the foundation of a community of common health for mankind.
