Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) was invited to attend the Silk Road Education Cooperation Expo on Aug 15. Its Global Education Governance Research Center was inaugurated during the opening ceremony.

In his keynote speech, XJTU President Wang Shuguo emphasized the importance of integration and that the university should play its role in uniting disciplines, following the law of social development, and actively carrying out international cooperation.

Giuliano Noci, vice-president of Milan Science and Engineering University, praised the XJTU-POLIMI Joint School of Design and Innovation as an outstanding achievement of educational cooperation between the two universities.

During the opening ceremony, the university launched more than 20 cooperative programs with top universities across the world, and organized forums with more than 30 scholars, holding in-depth discussions on regional coordination legislation and global governance issues in countries alongside the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st-Century Maritime Silk Road.

The event is part of the Silk Road International Exhibition, attracting more than 7,000 participants from more than 70 countries and regions around the world.
