XJTU holds webinar with Central Asian universities on educational cooperation

On June 1, the Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) Central Asia higher education cooperation webinar was held, with over 50 representatives including university leaders, heads in charge of international affairs, professors, and researchers from 19 universities in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan. The webinar was conducted online, attracting participation from nearly 9,000 viewers through a live streaming platform.

XJTU President Wang Shuguo attended the opening ceremony of the conference and delivered a speech, while Xi Guang, XJTU vice-president, gave a keynote presentation. The opening ceremony was also presided over by Shan Wenhua, assistant to the XJTU president.

On behalf of XJTU, Wang warmly welcomed the delegates from the cooperating universities in Central Asia. He emphasized that students are the future leaders of the world, and universities have a responsibility to cultivate the younger generation through a robust educational system and leadership programs. He expressed his anticipation for collaborative efforts with universities in Central Asia to nurture future leaders with international perspectives, leadership skills, innovation capabilities, and entrepreneurial spirit in this increasingly interconnected world.

At the conference

Xi delivered a report titled "Inheriting the spirit of the Silk Road, creating a better future for cooperation". In his presentation, he introduced XJTU's distinctive advantages, including the development of the university alliance of the Silk Road and the iHarbour university campus. He reviewed the cooperative history between XJTU and universities in Central Asia and put forward proposals and suggestions for further strengthening this bond.

The delegates meet online.

The delegates engaged in discussions and exchanges regarding the opportunities and challenges of educational cooperation between XJTU and Central Asian countries, as well as the experiences of cooperation between other Chinese and Central Asian universities. They explored the potential for further collaboration and shared insights on fostering closer ties in education, research, and cultural exchanges between China and the Central Asian countries.
