XJTU students shine in national contest

From August 1 to 3, the finals of the 16th National University Student Social Practice and Science Contest on Energy Saving and Emission Reduction, concluded at Southeast University. Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU)'s team won one special prize, four first-place prizes, one second-place prize, and six third-place prizes, ranking among the highest in the country in terms of number of awards. The university team also received the "outstanding organization" award.

The competition, guided by the Teaching Steering Committee for Energy and Power Majors of Higher Education Institutions under the Ministry of Education and organized by the National University Student Social Practice and Science Contest on Energy Saving and Emission Reduction Committee, was titled "Energy Conservation, Emission Reduction, and Green Energy."

The main competition attracted a total of 6,852 works from over 50,000 students and teachers from 638 colleges and universities in 31 provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions across the country, setting new historical records in terms of the number of participating institutions and individuals and the number of submitted works.

This year's competition focused on "Carbon Neutrality + Internationalization." For the first time, it featured a Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and international group, with 391 works from 136 colleges and universities in Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and overseas participating.

At the opening ceremony, He Yaling, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and professor at XJTU, delivered a speech on behalf of the competition organizing committee.

At the closing ceremony, Hao Mingsheng, a doctoral student from the School of Energy and Power Engineering at XJTU and a member of the team that won the special prize, spoke on behalf of participating teams in this year's competition.

A list of national undergraduates' outstanding graduation theses in the field of energy and power was also announced during the competition, with six graduation projects from XJTU making the list.
