Xi'an Jiaotong University's (XJTU) two teams consisting of a total of nine undergraduate students from interdisciplinary majors achieved outstanding results at the just-concluded final of the 2023 China Robot Competition and the RoboCup China Open in Quanzhou, Fujian province, winning one first-place prize and one second-place prize.

The China Robot Competition and RoboCup China Open, organized by the Chinese Association of Automation, aim to advance disciplines related to robotics, particularly in automation, robotics, and artificial intelligence. Held 24 times to date, it stands as one of the most influential and technically advanced robotics competitions in China.

To date, the competition has attracted over 1,500 teams, including those from top institutions like Tsinghua University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Renmin University of China, Tongji University, and XJTU. The total number of participants exceeds 5,000 people.

The competition, featuring three rounds of selection and pre-qualification, maintains a final award rate of only 30 percent. It includes various events such as RoboCup robots, agricultural robots, automated sorting robots, intelligent challenge vehicles, and underwater robots.

For the first time, XJTU participated in the underwater robot competition, securing the national fifth and sixth positions in the divisions of underwater operations and underwater patrol, respectively.
