China Center unveiled in Uzbekistan

Representatives from China and Uzbekistan attend the unveiling ceremony of the China Center in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.

The China Center, jointly established by Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) and Samarkand State University, was inaugurated in Samarkand, Uzbekistan on Dec 22.

During the unveiling ceremony, the two universities also signed the "Memorandum of Understanding on Collaborative Research of Think Tanks between XJTU and Samarkand State University."

The unveiling ceremony was attended by Sun Yao, vice-minister of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China, Turdimov Akbotaevich, governor of Samarkand region, Khalmuradov Rustam Ibragimovich, rector of Samarkand State University, and Xi Guang, vice-president of XJTU.

Sun Yao, vice-minister of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China, delivers a speech at the ceremony.

Sun Yao offered his congratulations on the establishment of the China Center, saying that the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China will support collaboration between Sino-Uzbek universities by leveraging the China Center to aid in talent development, think tank research, land desertification, water-saving agriculture, and various other areas.

Khalmuradov Rustam Ibragimovich extended a warm welcome to the Ministry of Education of China and XJTU at the unveiling ceremony, remarking that the establishment of the China Center marks the beginning of a new partnership and is expected to bring many opportunities for the improvement of Uzbekistan's economic and social development.

Turdimov Akbotaevich and Xi Guang conveyed the same hope and looked forward to further cooperation between the two countries.

The center marks the first instance of the "Language + Technology" innovative collaboration model established by XJTU in Central Asia. Its framework includes diverse areas of cooperation such as language and culture, studying in China, technical training, technological innovation, and international industry-education integration, and it provides a new paradigm and high-quality platform for educational exchange between China and Uzbekistan.
