China's first county-level new power system technology research institute established

XJTU and the Haining government establish the Haining New Power System Technology Research Institute.

Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU), in collaboration with the People's Government of Haining, a county-level city of East China's Zhejiang province, recently established the Haining New Power System Technology Research Institute, the nation's first at the county level.

The expert advisory committee of the institute is composed of academicians from the Chinese Academy of Engineering, including Shu Yinbiao, Wang Chengshan, Li Liyi, Qiu Aici, and several other senior experts in power systems.

The institute, located in the Haichuan Science and Technology Innovation Park in Haining, will receive operational and research funding, office space, and other support from the People's Government of Haining.

The goal is to fully leverage the research and talent resources of the School of Electrical Engineering at XJTU, build an innovative model that integrates multiple disciplines, bring together multiple industrial chains, and promote collaboration among multiple entities.

The institute will focus on various areas such as the planning and operation of new power systems, flexible technologies and equipment for distribution networks, and flexible control technologies and equipment for power grids. The three parties – government, enterprise, and university – will work together to advance the research and development of cutting-edge technologies in the new power system and facilitate the industrialization of achievements.

With an office space of approximately 3,000 square meters, the institute enjoys a unique geographical advantage – situated near the Hangzhou Xiasha University City and within a 1.5-hour commute of major cities in the Yangtze River Delta region.

The surrounding area is home to various industrial chains, including electronics and information, semiconductor manufacturing, intelligent equipment, and smart healthcare. The institute offers comprehensive facilities, providing research teams with all-round services, including those related to offices, dining, leisure, and accommodation.
