XJTU athletes excel in national track and field competition
Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) athletes Zhang Jialun and Zhang Haonan made their debut appearance in the 2024 National Indoor Track and Field Grand Prix (2nd Station) and advanced to the finals on March 3 in Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province.
At the finals, they will compete alongside Olympic-level athletes such as Su Bingtian and Xu Hetong.
This marks the first time that student athletes from XJTU have reached the finals of China's highest-level professional track and field competition.
This competition features a total of 12 men's and 13 women's events, and will have 1,100 athletes competing, including many Olympic-level athletes. It also represents the most prestigious, largest-scale, and most widely participated indoor track and field event held in Shaanxi in the last three years.
Zhang Jialun.
Zhang Jialun, the gold medalist in the men's 100 meters at the first National Student (Youth) Games, competed in both the men's 60 meters and 200 meters events in this competition. In the men's 60 meters event, Zhang made his debut with an outstanding time of 6.77 seconds, advancing to the final, where he will compete alongside Su Bingtian.

In the men's triple jump event, Zhang Haonan performed exceptionally well, qualifying for the final round where he will compete against famous triple jump athlete Xu Hetong.
