The fourth "Stories of China Retold in English Challenge" recently concluded in Beijing. The competition, which spanned eight months, attracted over 600,000 young participants worldwide. Among them, Iranian student Emam Seyedehfatemeh – Chinese name Feng Zhou – from Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) advanced through several intense rounds to reach the final stage in Beijing, where she participated in the on-site showcase and won the "Communication Star" award.
In the intermediate stage of the competition, Feng Zhou narrated the history of the development of filial piety, a core traditional Chinese value. She highlighted Shun, one of the five emperors from ancient times, as a model of filial devotion.
In the advanced stage, Feng Zhou gave a presentation titled "My 15-Year Reading Journey Through Chinese Culture", in which she shared her deep connection with Chinese classical literature.
"My homeland, like China, is an ancient country with a history spanning thousands of years. I deeply admire how Chinese people have preserved their culture and passed down these classics through generations. Culture is preserved one step at a time through continuous reading. These classic texts, with their timeless charm, remain fresh and captivating to this day," she remarked.
