Zhang Liqun meets with overseas guests attending the Belt and Road Key and Core Technology Achievement Trade Fair.

On the afternoon of Nov 1, Zhang Liqun, president of Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) and academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, met with overseas guests attending the Belt and Road Key and Core Technology Achievement Trade Fair, which was held on Nov 2.

Representatives of leading universities in countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative were present, including Moscow Power Engineering Institute, Ural Federal University, Saint Petersburg State University, Kazan State Power Engineering University, the Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan, Caspian University, New Uzbekistan University, Thammasat University of Thailand, and the French National School of Public Works of the State.

On behalf of XJTU, Zhang warmly welcomed the visiting university leaders. He provided a brief overview of the fair's main forum, the "University Alliance of the Silk Road" Industry-Education Integration Development Forum, and the 14th "Challenge Cup" China College Students' Entrepreneurship Competition.

Zhang emphasized that the event serves as a valuable opportunity to foster closer ties with universities and research institutions worldwide. In academic exchanges, he encouraged collaborative research, seminars, and international conferences to spark innovative ideas. For talent cultivation, he highlighted the importance of student exchange programs and joint graduate training to nurture future contributors to global scientific advancement.

To aid in the transfer of technology, Zhang called for robust platforms to accelerate the commercialization of scientific achievements. He expressed hope for collective efforts with domestic and international universities to pool resources, tackle challenges, and achieve significant outcomes through international technological cooperation.

The international university leaders thanked XJTU for its warm invitation and briefly introduced their respective institutions. They said they looked forward to deepening collaboration with XJTU in scientific research, talent development, and inter-university exchanges, creating diverse exchange platforms and driving the high-quality development of universities worldwide.
