On Oct 27, a 20-person delegation from Ballakermeen High School (BHS) on the Isle of Man visited Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU). They engaged in exchange activities and further advanced collaboration between the two institutions.
Tian Mei, deputy dean of the School of International Education at XJTU, warmly welcomed the delegation and expressed sincere appreciation for their visit. She introduced XJTU's rich history, academic strengths, and achievements in international student education. She also provided insights into the cost-of-living differences between studying in China and the UK in various practical aspects, such as housing, food, and transportation.
XJTU and BHS then signed a student source base cooperation agreement and held a plaque-awarding ceremony. This milestone marked the establishment of a stable and close partnership between the two schools. Going forward, both institutions will work together to select and nurture internationally competitive talent, aiming to elevate academic exchange and collaboration.
The delegation also toured the XJTU campus and international student residences, praising the university's facilities, study environment, and comfortable living conditions for international students.
BHS is located on the Isle of Man, a British dependency in the Irish Sea between England and Ireland. In 2015, it established an independent Confucius Classroom. Students at BHS are expected to reach HSK Level 4 in Chinese before graduation.
