Artem R. Oganov leads a delegation to visit Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) on Nov 4.

Artem R. Oganov, a fellow of the Academy of Europe and head of the Materials Discovery Laboratory at Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology (Skoltech), Russia, led a delegation to visit Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) on Nov 4.

Shan Wenhua, assistant president of XJTU, warmly welcomed Oganov and his delegation. He emphasized the importance that China and Russia place on deepening bilateral collaboration, and hoped that the two universities could strengthen international projects and platforms, nurture talent, and advance scientific and technological innovation.

Oganov affirmed the growing depth of Russia-China collaboration and expressed Skoltech's strong commitment to fostering ties with XJTU. He expressed the same hope that the two universities can further develop educational cooperation and jointly cultivate high-level, innovative talent with a global perspective and competitive edge.

During his visit, Oganov delivered a lecture titled "Novel Methods for Predicting Exotic Compounds and New Materials". Encouraging XJTU students, he remarked, "When facing challenges in research that others consider impossible, don't give up easily. Be patient and think deeply – you might be the one to turn the impossible into reality."

Professor Ding Xiangdong, dean of the School of Materials Science and Engineering, presented Oganov with a certificate and commemorative gift for participating in the lecture series.
