The 2024 Damo Academy Young Fellow Award winners and the Promising Scientist Award winner were announced on Dec 20. Professor Lin Chenhao from Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU)'s Faculty of Electronic and Information Engineering won the Promising Scientist Award.
This marks the second time a young scholar from the Faculty of Electronic and Information Engineering has received a Damo Academy honor. In 2019, Professor Shen Chao won the Young Fellow Award for his contributions to intelligent systems, behavioral perception, and security protection.
Lin is a faculty professor, a doctoral supervisor and a national-level young talent. He completed his undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral studies at XJTU, Columbia University in the United States, and Hong Kong Polytechnic University, respectively.
He has researched artificial intelligence (AI) security and intelligent identity safety, proposing an open-domain explicit and implicit fusion of identity security and adversarial technologies for cyberspace security, personal information protection, and trusted AI.
The Damo Academy Young Fellow Award, initiated by Alibaba's Damo Academy in 2018, is a public award aimed at discovering and supporting young Chinese scientists under 35 who play an important role in promoting technological progress. The award encourages scientists to take on key roles in major scientific breakthroughs and serve as role models, inspiring more to engage in scientific research.
The Promising Scientist Award is a sub-award of the Damo Academy Young Fellow Award. It recognizes individuals with the potential to address key scientific challenges and supports their efforts to achieve new research heights.
