Former secretary-general of SCO studies center appointed as XJTU's academic advisor
Deng Hao is appointed as an academic advisor to XJTU's Eurasian Studies Center.
Deng Hao, research fellow and former secretary-general of the China Center for Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Studies, was appointed as an academic advisor to the Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU)'s Eurasian Studies Center and delivered a keynote lecture. Sun Zao, deputy Party secretary of XJTU, also delivered a speech and presented Deng with the letter of appointment.
Sun highlighted the strategic importance of Central Asia in China's foreign policy amid the current global geopolitical shifts, the country's urgent need for regional and global governance research, and the mission of the Eurasian Studies Center.
He noted that having Deng as an academic advisor will strengthen the university's regional and country-specific studies focused on Central Asia, aligning with the development of western China and major national strategies.
In his lecture titled "Characteristics and Changes in the Current Situation of Central Asia", Deng analyzed recent developments in the region from both the domestic perspectives of Central Asian countries and the influence of major powers. He discussed the emerging opportunities and challenges, and proposed key issues for future research on Central Asia. Deng also engaged in an in-depth discussion and Q&A with faculty and students.
Deng is a prominent scholar in the field of Central Asian studies in China, known for his extensive experience in think tanks and diplomacy. He has made significant contributions to friendly exchanges between China and Central Asian countries.
