The Ministry of Education recently announced the official transfer of the Chinese President's Office of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) University from Dalian University of Foreign Languages to Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU). This move aims to deepen pragmatic educational cooperation within the SCO and enhance China's role in the university's development.

As a key platform for educational collaboration under the SCO framework, SCO University plays a vital role in fostering academic cooperation, advancing the coordinated development of member universities, and strengthening people-to-people exchanges. The Chinese President's Office of SCO University is responsible for encouraging the active participation of Chinese partner institutions, assisting the Ministry of Education in implementing SCO-related educational tasks, and promoting the high-quality development of SCO education cooperation.

XJTU has deeply integrated into the Belt and Road higher education cooperation and exchange, contributing to global governance in higher education. The university will prioritize this responsibility, strengthen leadership, and use its disciplinary strengths and international resources to fulfill its role in the Chinese President's Office. It aims to take proactive steps in guiding SCO University toward a new era of higher education development within the organization.

SCO University is a non-physical university network among higher education institutions of SCO member states, dedicated to cultivating high-level talent and promoting regional cooperation in education, research, and cultural exchange. It operates in 11 priority fields – regional studies, ecology, energy, IT, nanotechnology, education, economics, agriculture, medicine, law, and journalism – with over 100 universities from China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan participating.
