XJTU students win at 16th Chinese Mathematics Competition for College Students
XJTU students win eight national first prizes at the final of the 16th Chinese Mathematics Competition for College Students.
Students from Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) secured eight national first prizes, six second prizes, and seven third prizes at the final of the 16th Chinese Mathematics Competition for College Students, ranking seventh nationwide in both first-prize count and total prizes.
The university also earned the first prize for outstanding organization. Wang Yibo from class A2102, energy and power engineering, achieved a perfect score in the non-mathematics category A finals.
Four students – Fang Guanyu (class 2201, applied mathematics), Li Kunyue (class 2201, mathematics pilot program), Zhang Shu (class 2302, mathematics pilot program), and Chen Yida (class 2201, applied mathematics) – won first prizes in the upperclassmen group, while Li Hongchen from class 2401, Qiangji mathematics program, claimed the top honor in the lowerclassmen group. These results mark XJTU's best-ever performance in mathematics competitions.
Organized by the Chinese Mathematical Society, this high-level national event attracted over 320,000 students from 1,223 universities across 32 regions, including Tsinghua University, Peking University, and XJTU, setting a new participation record.
After rigorous selection, 1,254 students from 352 universities advanced to the finals. The competition has been listed as an affiliated event of the 2025-2026 National Youth Science and Technology Innovation Competition.
