XJTU and MSU explore collaborative innovation through online meeting.

Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) and Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU) held an online meeting on April 25. They focused on the development of higher education amid the technological revolution and industrial transformation, exploring pathways for collaborative innovation between Chinese and Russian universities.

In his speech, Lu Jianjun, secretary of the CPC XJTU Committee, emphasized that China and Russia are important strategic partners. He noted that XJTU and MSU have maintained close interactions over the years, with multiple reciprocal visits held and collaborative agreements signed recently.

Amid the new technological and industrial transformation, he proposed that the two universities jointly address challenges posed to higher education by emerging technologies like artificial intelligence and explore mechanisms for the deep integration of scientific innovation with industrial innovation.

Reflecting on the historical collaboration in basic sciences, MSU Vice-president Yuri A. Mazei highlighted MSU's strengths in medicine, chemistry, and biochemistry, which could complement XJTU's engineering expertise to form a "basic research-applied transformation" closed loop.

He proposed expanding multilateral cooperation networks by utilizing MSU's branch campuses in countries along the Silk Road and partnering with local top universities to explore new paths for educational reform, technological innovation, and talent development.

The meeting marked a new phase in their partnership. Moving forward, both sides will rely on the "dual enclave" innovation platform, multilateral education alliances, and joint research projects to address global challenges and offer solutions for the advancement of global higher education and scientific development.
