The China-Africa strategic ministerial seminar hosted by Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) was launched during the opening of the "China Day" event at the 7th Côte d'Ivoire International Agriculture Expo on May 24.

Co-organized by XJTU and Meilan Group – a representative Chinese enterprise with successful investments in Côte d'Ivoire – the seminar utilizes industry-education resources from Xi'an's iHarbor.

It focuses on addressing Africa's industrial challenges such as energy shortages and agricultural inefficiency, aiming to establish a high-level platform for knowledge sharing, policy dialogue, technology transfer, and strategic cooperation between China and Africa.

On May 23, XJTU's President Zhang Liqun visited the Université Félix Houphouët-Boigny in Côte d'Ivoire. Both parties exchanged views and reached a consensus on expanding collaboration under the framework of the University Alliance of the Silk Road.

That same day, Zhang held discussions with Georges Lhommet, vice-president of the Institut National Polytechnique Félix Houphouët-Boigny. They agreed to advance high-level talent training using China-African industry-education resources and enhance educational cooperation within the University Alliance of the Silk Road.

Zhang also toured the 7th Côte d'Ivoire Agriculture Expo and met with the Meilan Group. The two sides advanced preparations for the China-Africa strategic ministerial seminar and agreed to establish the China-African Advanced Research Institute.

This initiative seeks to integrate educational, scientific, and industrial resources, deepen industry-education collaboration, and cultivate more professionals dedicated to China-Africa cooperation.
