XJTU holds postgraduate commencement ceremony
Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) held its 2025 postgraduate commencement and degree conferment ceremony at iHarbor on June 20. A total of 7,374 postgraduate students completed their studies and embarked on a new chapter in their lives.
Lu Jianjun, secretary of the CPC XJTU committee, awarded 621 postgraduates the title of "outstanding graduate" and 316 postgraduates the title of "outstanding graduate cadre". He also commended and rewarded 252 graduates who chose to work at grassroots units in western China, national defense and military-industrial units, or were selected for public service.
Lu expressed hope that the graduates would work together and take responsibility for the nation's development and rejuvenation.
Zhang Liqun, president of XJTU, said that the students have explored freely, delved into research, emphasized application, broadened their international perspective, and rooted themselves at the grassroots level. Every one of them is an irreplicable and unique source of pride for their alma mater.
Academician Tao Wenquan of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Professor Zhang Jun of the School of Mechanical Engineering, Professor Yi Yuan of the School of Mathematics, Professor Zhao Xi of the School of Management, Professor Malgorzata A. Garstkaof the Second Affiliated Hospital of XJTU, and Cheng Yalong, a counselor at the School of Electrical Engineering, recorded videos to extend their blessings to the graduates.
Professor Rong Mingzhe, a doctoral supervisor at the School of Electrical Engineering, delivered a speech on behalf of the faculty.
Hua Lin, a 1997 alumnus of XJTU and now a professor and doctoral supervisor at the School of Automotive Engineering of Wuhan University of Technology, reflected on his experience pursuing a doctoral degree at XJTU and encouraged graduates to always merge their personal ideals with the nation's development.
Li Zexin, a 2016 alumnus of XJTU and chairman and general manager of Xi'an Xice Testing Technology Co, shared a life motto with the graduates: love your parents, love your alma mater, and love your country; treat others with kindness, cultivate wisdom through deep learning, and shoulder responsibilities with a strong heart.
Student representatives presented flowers to faculty and administrative staff to thank them for their selfless efforts to create a warm and caring campus atmosphere.
