XJTU advances green energy and tech cooperation across Central Asia
XJTU Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and the National Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan hold the Second Central Asia-China+ Green Energy Academicians Forum, which commenced in Almaty.
The Second Central Asia-China+ Green Energy Academicians Forum, jointly hosted by Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU), Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, and the National Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan, commenced in Almaty on June 14.
The forum brought together 17 academicians, government officials, and representatives from leading energy enterprises in China, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan.
During the opening ceremony, XJTU signed the Almaty Green Energy Cooperation Charter with top research institutions, establishing regularized mechanisms for the forum. This initiative aims to strengthen scientific collaboration, institutionalize regional green energy partnerships, and advance the "Green Silk Road" vision.
The Second Central Asia-China+ Industry and Investment Cooperation Forum was also convened in Astana, Kazakhstan, on June 16. Executive Vice-President Bie Zhaohong, representing XJTU, signed an agreement with Shakarim University to establish the "China-Kazakhstan Joint Laboratory of Electrical Engineering and Automation."
At the Second Central Asia-China+ Entrepreneurs Committee Meeting in Astana on June 17, Bie signed agreements with the National Academy of Sciences of Kyrgyzstan and the International University of Kyrgyzstan to establish joint laboratories supporting high-quality Belt and Road development.
These initiatives expand XJTU's scientific network in Central Asia, fostering interdisciplinary and cross-institutional innovation while deepening research collaborations. They mark a new, multidimensional, and institutionalized phase of partnership, laying the foundations for broader science and technology cooperation.
The XJTU delegation engaged with the National Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan and local universities. Discussions focused on talent development, joint research, and the commercialization of scientific achievements, reinforcing long-term strategic partnerships between XJTU and Central Asia's premier academic institutions.
