Academician of Swiss Academy of Engineering Sciences visits XJTU

President Zhang Liqun (R2) confers a honorary professorship upon Professor Benoît Dubuis (L3).
Zhang Liqun, president of Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) and academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, met with Professor Benoît Dubuis, president of the Swiss Academy of Engineering Sciences (SATW), and Zhang Jianhua, vice-president of Shanghai University, at XJTU's Science Museum on June 22.
President Zhang highlighted XJTU's commitment to open collaboration and global academic engagement, noting significant achievements in interdisciplinary fields like medical-engineering integration and biomedical engineering.
He emphasized the strong alignment between Professor Dubuis' expertise and XJTU's disciplinary focus, proposing comprehensive cooperation in talent development, joint research, and technology transfer to advance Sino-Swiss high-end scientific resource sharing.
Professor Dubuis acknowledged biomedical engineering's unprecedented opportunities amid global digital transformation. He pointed to the complementary strengths between XJTU's expertise in precision instruments and biosensors, and Switzerland's leadership in high-end medical devices, expressing eagerness to collaborate on research that integrates technology with industry.
President Zhang conferred an honorary professorship upon Professor Dubuis, stating his authority in biomedical engineering would invigorate XJTU's related disciplines.
Academician Jiang Zhuangde presented Professor Dubuis with a co-editor-in-chief appointment for XJTU's international journal Biomedical Instrumentation, hosted by the School of Instrumentation Science and Engineering.
Following the meeting, Professor Dubuis delivered an academic lecture titled "Health 2040: When Technology Redefines Healthcare", engaging in in-depth discussions with faculty and students.
Benoît Dubuis is a top biomedical engineering strategic scientist, vice-president of the Global Biomedical Engineering Alliance, founder of the Swiss National Biotechnology Park, and dean of the Sino-Swiss Institute for Advanced Technology at Shanghai University.
