Representatives from TSU and XJTU discuss academic cooperation.

A delegation from Tomsk State University (TSU) in Russia visited Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) on Dec 12. The two sides held in-depth discussions on cooperation in credit recognition, joint training programs, and interdisciplinary summer schools.

Shan Wenhua, assistant president of XJTU, reviewed the progress of cooperation between the two universities and introduced XJTU's basic information, highlighting its deep integration of industry, academia, and research in iHarbour, as well as joint education and research collaborations conducted through platforms such as the University Alliance of the Silk Road, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) University, the China-SCO Higher Education Cooperation Center, and the XJTU-POLIMI Joint College.

Artyom Yu. Rykun, vice-rector for international affairs at TSU, introduced the university's founding history, key disciplines, and the Tomsk University City project. He hoped the two universities would deepen talent cultivation, jointly promote faculty and student exchanges, develop joint training programs, and collaborate on high-level doctoral summer school projects.

Founded in 1878, TSU has strong programs in humanities, chemical engineering and materials science, radiophysics, robotics, biotechnology, computer science, and artificial intelligence. The university has over 600 faculty members with doctoral degrees and more than 1,300 with associate doctoral degrees, including 32 academicians and corresponding members of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Russian Academy of Education. TSU enrolls 16,000 students, including 2,000 international students.
